thank you.

It’s been exactly 4 years since i joined Nine Inch Nails and the time has come for me to move onto new things.
I feel a need to explore other paths in music and life which leads me to leave the tour at this stage.
I am grateful of the chance i was given: it doesn’t happen every day to be able to work next to some of the most talented people on this planet.

Trent & Co. have been aware of this decision of mine for a while now and are prepared to take the band to the next step.

Thanks to all the fans who welcomed me at the beginning of my journey and supported me through the years: I hope to see you around here or there.

Alessandro

I’m sorry to hear it – I never got to see you play with them! I understand that you’ve had a very long, eventful time together, though, and that it’s YOUR time now.

I wish you all the best, and keep on rockin’.

  2. Mantis says:

I’m also sorry to hear it, but I’m glad you’ll have more time to do what YOU want. And if that’s blindoldfreak and more Modwheelmood then that’s just fine by me! 🙂

  3. I will miss you so much. You and Josh Freese were my favorites.
Keep us updated with your future endeavors!

  4. Sophie says:

I’m very excited to hear that you’ll be spending more time on your own projects. While I enjoyed seeing your take on NIN, it was necessary to put other things on the backburner; now they have a chance to flourish. I look forward to what the future may bring.

  5. Toenails says:

I just want to say you rocked in nin, and it’s a bummer to see you leave, but I am really excited for the possibility of new mwm music, new Blindoldfreak music… and you and Pelle putting on some shows!

  6. Roxana says:

Even though I never got to see you play either, I’ll miss you with nin.
Good luck on your continued journey and I hope to some day catch you in one of your other projects.

  7. Staci says:

Sorry to hear it, loved seeing you play with NIN, but I wish you all the best, and can’t wait to hear more from modwheelmood!

  8. orestes says:

Fuck, I know it’s cliche but dammit if I’m not sad by the news. 🙁

Best of luck with whatever may come in the future.

  9. Chowderhawk says:

I’m sorry to hear that you’re leaving but if I’m sure that it’s for the best. Good luck with your future endeavors.

  10. prscrptn says:

Best of Luck… can’t wait to catch the Blindoldfreak and Modwheelmood tour!

  11. twiggysrabies says:

I can’t say I’m not horribly saddened by the news, but, I’m looking forward to new things coming from you, Alessandro!

Hopefully an EAST COAST tour! *wink wink*

  12. nordlyss says:

Thank you – for everything you added to my fave band, and thanks NIN – for introducing me to your music. Honestly, I don’t know how are they going to find anybody good enough to replace you, but that’s a whole another story. Whatever is best for your art – go ahead with it! And please be sure to tour, and not US only, ok?
    Much love 🙂

  13. Taylor says:

Aww damn, I’m gonna miss you in NIN. You are easily one of my favorite people that have been in that band. But I’m excited to see what’s next, as I love Modwheelmood and what I’ve heard so far from blindoldfreak.

  14. deb says:

Best of luck to you! Definitely looking forward to some more new blindoldreak and modwheelmood music.

  15. How bittersweet. I am glad I got to see you play with Nine Inch Nails, but I am even more excited at the prospect of seeing you play your own music (hopefully in NYC) in the future.

You are one of the most consistent and innovative musicians out there; I can’t to hear whatever you have planned. Cool beans on how you get to relax after what must have been an exhausting tour, too!

    Ciao!

  16. Amy says:

I’m slightly biased, but you were simply amazing in NIN, and probably the best keyboardist the band has seen. Like the departure of Josh, you leave behind large shoes to fill! I’m excited to see what comes next for you, and wish you all the best.

Ally, I’m sad to see you leave NIN, but I’m thrilled to imagine what you’ll come up with next. Enjoy your life and all it brings to you, and like many NIN fans, I’ll be around to see what’s coming. All the best! *hug*

  21. Kylie says:

I’m terribly sad to see you go, I wish I could have seen the best lineup so far (in my opinion) perform, with you and Josh gone. I dunno how to feel. But I’m really looking forward to some great mwm and blindoldfreak stuff. Good luck, I know it probably wasn’t an easy decision to make and I sincerely hope you accomplish exactly what you aspire to do with your music.

  22. Beata says:

I’m sad to see you leave NIN but I can’t wait to hear new music from you and I must say somehow I knew you will leave with Josh.

  23. Anna says:

I feel even more grateful now to have seen you play in Minneapolis.

But, like everyone else has said, I’m looking forward to new modwheelmood and blindoldfreak music more than you can possibly imagine. It’s the music that’s touched me the most, and I’m glad you’re creating more.

    Good luck and happy holidays!

  24. Mary says:

  26. Tesseljoan says:

I too am sad to see you go, but if this means more MWM and Blindoldfreak I’m all for it. Good luck!

  27. Joan Cootes says:

I’m really sorry to hear that. Maybe Mr. Cortini will be back with NIN one day? I hope so. Good luck for the future.

  28. notfadeaway1 says:

    ally- wishing you the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Anch says:

Thank you very much for everything you’ve done.
For your work in NIN, for the atmosphere you were bringing to everything NIN-related, for your output during the shows, for your personality, for everything you’re doing to your fans.
    We’ll miss you. Really.
But I (and we all, of course) wish you only the best. Good luck and don’t forget that we all love you!
    Best wishes.

We’ll be glad to see and to hear you)
    You’re the beats)
    Loving you,
Wishing love with music for the rest of your life)

  31. Cathy says:

In a way I have been expecting this for a while. When you announced that you would soon come back with more blindoldfreak songs and maybe some shows, I thought it was a way to also say that you would leave NIN. You did a great job with NIN, but hey 4 years is a lot and we can understand that you need to come back to your own music.
We can’t wait to see you (I mean, actually see you perform and not beeing hidden by some metal curtain) on stage with Modwheelmood (which we miss a lot) and blindoldfreak.
You gathered numerous fans with your own music, and you won’t lose us by leaving NIN.
So, take some rest, keep on nerding around that wonderful Buchla, keep on being a sound wizard, and don’t worry, we’ll all be there to support your music.

  32. janedoe,pa says:

Sniff sniff BYE BYE BUCHLA! You are an awesome edition to NIN. You will be missed Mr. Cortini!

  33. poisonfruitloops says:

i never got to see you in NIN live 🙁 *sad panda face*

hopefully MWM and BOF can make it down to australia, i’ll be front row center:)

    best of luck ally!

  34. engineer_nerd says:

I am excited to finally see were MWM will go. Hope to see you both in NY again soon…
And congrats on your new steps forward into the future, best of luck…

  35. Ciao Ale!!! Mi spiace che tu non sia più parte della famiglia NIN, ma adoro i tuoi lavori con BOF e MWM e sono sicuro che avrai moltissime soddisfazioni personali e molti fans desiderosi di sentirti in questi 2 progetti. Civedremo qui in Italia (magari in qualche concerto? Daiiiii…. 😉

    Diego

  36. Francesco says:

aaaaahhhh!! caspita, mi dispiace…che storia…però a sentire i tuoi ultimi lavori qui c’è solo che da esser fiduciosi, W BLINDOLDFREAK AND THE ELECTRIC MUSIC BOX!…mi associo a Diego…un incontro con fans italiani sarebbe a dir poco strepitoso…
grazie, comunque, di tutto il tuo lavoro

    ti aspettiamo 🙂

  37. Mauro says:

Well… i’m glad. This means you will spend more of your time in your music and your projects. I like modwheelmood more than NIN.

Also, i saw you with NIN this year so.. it’s okay.
I hope we can see modwheelmood here in argentina someday.
    Good luck.

  38. Lara says:

I’ve just died a little inside.
The worst part, my favourite band in the world are playing a shitty festival and my favourite keyboardist ever isn’t going to be there to brighten it up.
So bring Modwheelmood out to Australia because I wanna see you again.
    All the best xo
    L.

  39. Linda says:

    Dear Alessandro,

What sad news. You added another dimension to NIN and I am so pleased I got to see you in action with NIN in England last year. I fully understand that you would like to concentrate on other musical adventures and wish you all the very best in the near future. Your presence will be missed, but us fans will stand by you what ever road you decide to go down.

Take care, keep rocking and enjoy your holidays.

  40. BeautyIsAnimate says:

While the thought of you no longer being part of Nine Inch Nails does make me sad, I know I’ll enjoy the end result of new offerings from MWM and BOF.

Molte grazie per tutto. (Did I say it right?)

    Merry Christmas, Allesandro.

  48. Diego Pulido says:

    Alessandro.

    Sei grande!!

I got to see you perform with NIN, and now I look forward to hear some more of your own music. You are one of the most talented musicians I’ve seen in my time.

Thanks or helping every NIN show to date that much better because of you.

Nine Inch Nails live will never be as good without you. You will be missed.

  51. Renita says:

Wow, when I woke up this morning I didn’t actually expect to see this in my feeds. However, I did see it coming for a while now. I am sorry to see you leave NIN, and I am glad I was lucky enough to watch you perform with them this past summer. You were simply amazing, and I know Trent is going to have a hard time filling that spot in the back. I don’t want to say replace because in my opinion no one can ever replace you, and I’m sure Trent will agree.

Best of luck with all of your future endeavors whether they be modwheelmood, blindoldfreak, or whatever! Know that we will all be watching here to see what you do next, and that we all support you and will be here when you need us.

I do hope that everything will go according to your plans/dreams and that you will be able to tour, and visit your fans (especially the ones in Alberta, Canada *hinthint*), and share your beautiful music firsthand.

    Thank you, Alessandro.

  52. Mama K says:

It does make me sad that you won’t be part of NIN anymore, but I am glad that I got to see you perform with them and that by being in NIN I was introduced to the awesomeness of ModWheelMood and BlindOldFreak. Take care, and if you ever bring a show down to St. Louis you can bet your sweet ass I will be there.

    Thank you for being you.

  53. Graham says:

Man – this is sad news. You (Alessandro) were a such a huge part of NIN’s comeback in 2005. I am very sad to see you go. I feel like YOU and Trent WERE present day NIN. It’s just weird to think that you two won’t be working together anymore. I thought you all really made great stuff together.

I hope you continue to make great music and I will be following what you are up to. Thanks!

  54. JoeM says:

Sad news, Alessandro! I’m sad to see you go but excited that this may give you some more time to work on some of your other projects as well. I’ll miss watching you play at the live shows and I’m definitely happy you were part of NIN because well that’s how I got listening to all of your other stuff and have been enjoying it even since.

  55. M Sch says:

Well, I think it’s great that you gave your time. I’m also glad to have seen you with NIN (I’m from Chile, so it’s really great because it has been only one time that NIN played here). sometimes there is time to move on, when you feel it, and if it’s what your feeling right now go an do it. From what i’ve heard of your work really interesting things are coming up and I will be expecting whatever comes from now on.
Congrats and keep going, you’re doing just great.

Cheers from the bottom of the world!

  56. Slap Mo says:

a lil sorry to hear that I missed my last chance to see you perform with nin. But I am very excited to see and hear what comes next. Im loving this material as much (if not more than) your previous work.

thanks for the inspiration and cheers for your grace and courage to recognize when it was time for you to expand.

    here’s to the future.

  57. Stephanie says:

Ah, now you can finally focus on your own material. It would be so amazing for you to come to New York and set up a Buchla double header gig with Richard Lainhart. Or better yet an East coast version of ‘Analog Live 2007’ (Red Cat Theatre in Los Angeles show):

I finally finished writing the book I started 2 years ago. The original title was “Ghosts”, but I changed it after Trent came out with that thing. I scribbled your name on page ix. They call that a dedication. There’s no one like you, Ally.

  70. Peppermint says:

Heey, I’m so sorry to hear you’re leaving. You kicked major ass here in Argentina, as well the rest of the tour. Dude, all i’ve got to say is bon voyage and lots of love from Buenos Aires ^^

Well I’m really late in commenting on this. Alessandro I loved what you brought to NIN and have enjoyed seeing you play with them several times. I had the privilege of seeing you perform three time with nine inch nails. You’re a great musician, and from what I’ve seen from lurking youtube and such, a nice guy to boot! I love what you’re doing with mwm and blindoldfreak. My only regret is that I didnt discover you before you joined the nin lineup. As others have said, best of luck in all your endeavors, would love to come see you if you happen upon my area. Keep it up!

  76. David Fielder says:
